POWER TRAIN · ENGINE
On October 27, 2026, my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ with the 6.2L engine suddenly lost propulsion on Interstate 80 near Atlantic, Iowa. The mileage was approximately 62,000, although I am uncertain of the exact mileage. I had driven approximately three hours after leaving my hotel that morning before stopping at a gas station. When I restarted the truck, the engine barely turned over before starting. No engine warning lights came on at that time. I continued onto I-80. Approximately five minutes later, the truck began losing speed with cruise control engaged. I disengaged cruise control and pressed the accelerator. The engine revved, but the truck did not accelerate. The check engine light came on just before the truck shifted itself into neutral. I coasted to an off-ramp, and the truck would not restart. It required towing. The sudden loss of propulsion at interstate speed put me and surrounding traffic at risk because I could no longer accelerate or maintain speed. The dealership inspected the truck and told me it failed what they described as a “propulsion test” and was included in a recall. The specific internal component that failed is unknown to me. Whether the failed components have been retained and are available for inspection is also unknown to me.

The check engine warning light was illuminated after the failure. The contact activated the hazard lights and pulled over to the side of the road. The vehicle was restarted but was undrivable. The vehicle was pushed onto the street of the residence and parked. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; a diagnostic test was performed and DTC: P0747 was retrieved; indicating transmission failure. The dealer determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the TCM was updated previously due to transmission shifting failures; however, the failure worsened. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
I am filing this complaint regarding a battery-drain problem with my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The original battery failed and was replaced. I am concerned that the battery is not the underlying problem and that an intermittent electrical drain may be discharging the battery while the truck is parked. GM has issued technical information concerning battery-drain problems on 2022 Silverado 1500 trucks, including bulletin PIT5750B, which addresses intermittent parasitic battery draw, dead batteries and slow cranking. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether there is a recurring electrical or software-related defect affecting 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 vehicles that can cause the battery to discharge while parked. Vehicle: 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 VIN: [XXX] Mileage: 31000 Battery replaced:11/17/23] Number of battery failures: 3 Time vehicle was parked before battery discharged: 5 DAYS, 3 DAYS Dealer/service department: [XXX] Automall, Modern Chevrolet I believe this issue should be investigated to determine whether there is a broader defect rather than simply treating the battery as the cause of the problem. SERVICE BRAKES
2022 Chevy Silverado Rear Brake Wear Sensor & Rotor Damage — Causes & Fixes My issue is a known problem on 2020–2025 Silverados: corrosion or sticking in the electronic parking brake (EPB) wear sensor assembly can cause the sensor to drag, scoring the rotor and triggering a brake pad monitor warning On 2022 Silverados, the rear brakes use an EPB actuator with an integrated wear sensor. The sensor monitors pad thickness and sends data to the truck’s brake system. In some cases, the sensor’s mounting area corrodes (especially in Michigan’s salt-belt climate) or the caliper slide pins stick, allowing the sensor to move into the rotor gap This caused us to repair the rear brakes due to GM sensor issue and not because of normal usage. I reached out to GM and asked for this to be reviewed. We feel this is an GM recall issue, and they should pay for this as this was not due to normal usage.

Here are the details to incorporate into your GM complaint: Original symptoms: The truck vibrated and jerked during acceleration and at highway speeds. Dealership's diagnosis: The torque converter was slipping at 82 RPM, which the invoice states was outside GM specifications of 20 RPM or below. The technician also noted that the transmission fluid condition was poor. Repair performed: Chevrolet replaced the torque converter, torque converter front seal, torque converter bolts, and line seal; replaced the transmission fluid and filter; reset the transmission adaptives; and performed a test drive. Amount paid: $3,768.37 total for the January 2026 repair, including labor and parts. Since then the problem has started again and now my truck has been at the dealership since October 1, 2026

I own a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country with the 6.2L V8 (L87), covered by Recall 25V-274. I believe the remedy does not establish that my vehicle is safe, and GM has declined to confirm that it is. My truck was inspected under the recall in August 2025. It passed, and the oil was changed to 0W-40. I later returned to the dealer to complete the recall work, where the new oil fill cap was installed. Before the remedy, the truck had been driven roughly 30,000 miles on the original oil, including repeated towing during a move. NHTSA’s EA26005 states it has received complaints of engine failure after both the oil change remedy and engine replacement, and that GM reported thousands of complaints of post-remedy engine failure. My vehicle received the same remedy. I asked GM in writing to confirm my engine does not have the defect and will not fail or lose propulsion because of it, or to explain whether the inspection can determine the condition of internal engine components. GM did not answer those questions. Its reply stated only that the remedy was performed “to help affected vehicles avoid the defect condition,” that the new oil “offers increased protection against engine damage,” and pointed to extended engine coverage. I drive daily in the [XXX] of northern [XXX], on two-lane highways where passing requires the oncoming lane, on long stretches with no cell service and unreliable satellite coverage, and in winter temperatures that regularly fall below zero. GM’s recall filing states that if the engine fails during operation, “the vehicle will lose propulsion, increasing the risk of a crash.” Here, a sudden loss of propulsion is a serious risk to anyone in the vehicle. Warranty coverage does not address that risk, because it applies only after a failure. I ask that NHTSA consider my vehicle and these conditions in its investigation of the Recall 25V-274 remedy. I have an open case with GM’s executive customer care team. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I brought my vehicle into the Chevrolet Dealership and the service department is claiming that I need to pay $1500 for a fuel pump with a CEL code that is not able to be duplicated. There is a TSB 24-NA-139 regarding my issue saying that it is not the fuel pump, it is the fuel pump control module. My issue is that the dealership wants me to pay $1500 for a fuel pump solely off of their “guess” of what the issue is. The bulletin calls out the P102B as one possible code related to the issues. I refused this service since this is just the dealership’s guess of what the issue may be and I believe the fuel pump control module should be replaced for free under the 8yr/80k federal emissions warranty. I requested that the dealership check the module as a part of the $245 diagnosis I paid for and they are insisting that the issue is with the fuel pump.

ENGINE
I am reporting an engine failure on my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado equipped with the 6.2L V8 engine, following completion of NHTSA Safety Recall 25V-274 (GM N252494000). The recall was performed when my vehicle already had over 150,000 miles. At that time, GM performed the oil-and-cap remedy rather than replacing the engine. Approximately 9,000 miles after the recall repair, at approximately 193,000 miles, the engine began making knocking noises and subsequently required replacement. There was no low-oil warning that we observed before the failure ( both in the vehicle nor on the app) and we were not aware of any oil leaks. The vehicle had also been serviced by our local mechanic approximately 3,000 miles before the failure, at which time the mechanic advised that an oil change was not necessary. I am concerned that this failure may be related to the connecting-rod or crankshaft defects identified in the original GM recall and that the recall remedy may not have adequately corrected the problem. I am requesting that NHTSA review this complaint as a possible engine failure following completion of Recall 25V-274 and consider it in its investigation of post-recall engine failures. This vehicle is currently at a dealership waiting for an engine replacement. In speaking with the service manager at this dealership, he agreed that this was related to the recall and actually said to me that he felt that by replacing the oil with the heavier oil (as recommended by the recall), is probably the what caused the engine failure.

LANE DEPARTURE · BACK OVER PREVENTION
I own a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado LTZ Texas Edition with 51,000 miles, equipped with the factory multi-camera system and rear backup camera. The camera images are clear and all cameras function normally, but the forward/reverse guide/trajectory lines no longer appear. When the cameras are activated, a blue hourglass appears in the upper-left corner and the guide lines never load. This is a safety concern because the guide lines help the driver judge the vehicle's path and distance when backing up and maneuvering in tight areas. The loss of this feature reduces the functionality of the factory safety/parking camera system. I took the truck to an authorized GM dealer. They diagnosed a front camera issue and recommended replacing the front camera located under the hood, at a cost of approximately $1,000. I questioned why the camera should be replaced when the camera image itself is clear and functioning normally. The dealer identified DTC B1A68, Failure Code 0x76, and also provided a report showing numerous additional communication faults. The dealer said I should not be concerned about the other codes. Diagnostic codes reported: B1A68 (0x76), U0101, U0102, U0131, U0140, U0146, U0151, U0155, U0265, U0422, U160F, U1610, U1611. I am concerned that replacing the front camera may not correct the actual cause of the missing guide lines, particularly given the multiple communication faults. This could involve the camera system, software, calibration, CAN communication network, or another component. I am requesting that NHTSA document and investigate this complaint as a potential safety-related defect affecting the camera/guide-line system on 2022 Chevrolet Silverado vehicles. I believe the loss of the factory guide lines is a safety concern and could affect a driver's ability to safely judge the vehicle's path while reversing. the camera also doesn't detect cars or people now. my seat use to vibrate I have the dealer's diagnostic report available as supporting documentation.

I have the 6.2l motor and this motor is failing AGAIN. They did the pick test and I did not qualify for the recall. But my truck is making the same noise again before it blew. The Chevy dealership informed me that it was the valve train that was causing the motor to blow. But this is the second motor. How can the second motor have the same problem right? Well this motor is now about to blow and again the dealer said it’s the valve train. The noise is coming from the lifters and the variable valve train and the mechanics of the valve train are what is causing the to blow. This is a main reason why the motors are blowing even after the new oil was changed. I don’t know what’s to do with this truck because it is out of warranty and it is about to fail

My 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country with the 6.2L L87 engine suffered a sudden catastrophic engine failure after passing the inspection for Recall 25V274 at approximately 70,000 miles and being returned to service. While I was pulling into my driveway, the engine abruptly shut off as though the ignition had been turned off. It would crank but would not restart. The sudden loss of propulsion while the vehicle was moving created a safety concern; a similar shutdown in traffic could cause a crash. The Chevrolet dealership disassembled the engine and documented multiple lifters stuck in their bores, requiring excessive force to remove, and deep cylinder-wall scoring that could catch a fingernail. The dealer determined that the block damage required complete engine replacement and replaced the engine. The dealer attributed the failure to lack of oil or improper maintenance and denied recall-related coverage, stating that the failure involved the upper engine rather than the crankshaft or connecting-rod bearings covered by the recall. I strongly dispute the poor-maintenance conclusion. Oil changes were performed regularly. The dealer told me the oil was somewhat low but still within the operating range when the truck arrived after the failure. I ask NHTSA to review this sudden engine failure following completion of Recall 25V274 and whether the recall inspection/remedy adequately addresses the risk of subsequent engine failure. I am not asserting that a particular manufacturing defect caused this failure; the underlying cause remains disputed. Availability of the failed engine for further inspection is unknown.

The vehicle and affected components are available for inspection upon request.

POWER TRAIN
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission shuddered and shifted hard. There was an abnormally loud thumping sound coming from the engine compartment while accelerating. The vehicle was towed to a dealer to be diagnosed; however, cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission fluid needed to be flushed and refilled. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, and an oil leak was found. The contact was informed that a software update was needed, and that several unknown parts in the engine and a wiring harness and oil cooler needed to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Was driving at highway speeds when truck shuttered and rattled and quickly slowing down. Warning errors on dash stated "Reduced Acceleration, Drive with Care", "Service Emissions System", "Service Traction Control", "Service ESC". Got vehicle to dealer and they confirmed the error code (P0202 - covered under powertrain warranty), but then also noted an error code for P129F where the truck would not start up. They are recommending a replacement of the Fuel Pump Power Control Module. GM had updated a NHTSA bulletin (original: N262558690 - Emissions Recall - Fuel Pump Power Control Module - July 15, 2026) on August 12, 2026 that expanded the population of qualified models to include the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. However, on September 1 they issued an updated notice that said "GM has since identified certain 2022-2023 model year Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles that were erroneously included in this recall and are not affected by the condition." I believe my truck was originally included in the recall, was removed two weeks ago, and now my dealer has subsequently diagnosed a Fuel Pump Power Control Module failure with DTC P129F and recommended replacement This all follows a warranty repair I had to get two weeks ago on my Engine Coolant Control Valve (P1098), which was covered under powertrain warranty

SUSPENSION
A leaf spring broke on rear suspension. Bought a gm leaf spring from a dealer and gm won’t cover only because an independent shop did work. Truck is a personal vehicle not used in hauling. In my opinion and because even dealer where I purchased vehicle said they had never seen this happen it is a defective part. Only reason for gm to not stand behind it was repair not done at dealer. Truck has 112000 mi.

The transmission it erratically shifts and has a roaring sound. I also says shift to park when it is in park. It wont start when it is cold it just cranks and cranks it has since i bought it. Well when my kids and I are going down the road and the transmittion randomly starts up shifting or down shifting and whenit goes out its gonn lock up probably where fever we are. as for the starting thing when its cold its isnt the ideal to have to go build a fire in the garage just to get my truck to start during an emergency. I have had a garage hook it up to a computer to see if it was throwing any codes. It wasn't except a brake sensor. I bought this truck 2 years ago and have nothing but trouble with it shifting and and the dash always says shift to park. this is one of the worst Chevrolet trucks i have ever bought. it only has around 70000 miles on it. I had the truck about 3 month when the transmittion issue started. It has never started when it was cold out side the whole time I have owned igt.

I took my truck in to have a bad fuel pump module looked at. During the inspection they found some metal in the oil and it was confirmed by more being in the oil filter. This truck had previoulsy been cleared on the NHTSA Campaign 25V-274, but now it appears that it is a part of that recall. The dealer has initiated the work with the chevy corporate offices and I am working to secure a rental/ loaner car. I am filing this in the event there are any issues getting the new replacement engine.

Coolant Control Valve is malfunctioning. Check engine code P1098, Running Fans Loud cooling fans running at full blast shortly after turning off the engine. General Motors issued special coverages N252508341 extending coolant control valve warranty protection up to 15 years or 150,000 miles for select 3.0L Duramax vehicles. Unfortunately, GM says my VIN isn’t covered by the extended warranty even though it has all the same issues as those that are covered down to the check engine code notes on their bulletin N252508341.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER
I recently took my vehicle in for maintenance work on my transmission. I was informed that my vehicle was showing code P0747 which was under a special coverage warranty by GM. I then took my vehicle to our local GM dealership and was told that my vehicle does not qualify for the special coverage warranty N242454441 because my VIN number was not attached to the parts and the best I could do was contact GM. I reached out to GM to see if I could get a clearer understanding and my claim was denied. I spoke with a very helpful lady that informed me she would have their area technician reach out to me to see what could be done. After a few voicemails he did return my call to let me know GM would not be helping with reimbursement because the VIN was not attached to the part numbers. He ended with telling me that parts wear out and there was no proof that our 2022 Chevrolet Diesel Silverado 1500 was included in the special coverage warranty. I am reaching out because this is the second time we have had issues with trying to get recalls/warranties covered by Chevrolet and not been successful. I am currently looking at GM's special coverage N242454441 - This special coverage covers the condition described above for a period of 15 years or 150,000 miles (240,000km), whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership. Vehicle owners or lessees who paid for repairs referenced in this Special Coverage (“Customers”) are eligible for reimbursement of their reasonable and customary expenses in accordance with the procedures specified below. The conditional right to reimbursement is provided by GM solely in the interest of customer satisfaction and is personal to Customers. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer. Please explain to me why my vehicle is showing this code and once again I am being told I will get no help from Chevrolet? This is a problem and I feel that we fall under this warranty.

I experienced a crankshaft bearing failure while driving my 6.2L V8 Chevrolet Silverado on the highway / freeway. Thankfully I was able to exit highway / freeway to avoid a car collision due to loss of power. My truck was towed to a certified Chevy dealer. This is a known issue for 2019-2026 6.2L V8 L87 engines. The truck was previously inspected by a certified Chevy dealer for prior L87 engine recall. It passed and they changed the oil type to 0w-40. Prior to this event, my truck was at the dealer for a low oil pressure issue / oil pan replacement. I picked it up from the dealer after the vehicle was repaired and drove it for about three days and then experienced the crankshaft bearing failure. No warning lamps illuminated prior to failure. My truck is currently at the dealer waiting for a new engine.

Special Coverage Program" (N242454441 While driving, the vehicle experienced sudden, severe shifting issues and entered a dangerous transmission "Limp Mode" severely limiting vehicle speed and power in live traffic. An OBD-II diagnostic scan retrieved active trouble code P0747 (Pressure Control Solenoid 'A' Stuck On). This indicates a well-documented mechanical defect in the transmission valve body covered under GM Special Coverage Program N242454441. [1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8] Upon contacting my local Chevrolet dealership service department, I was informed that due to catastrophic backlog and part constraints, the dealership cannot physically scan or diagnose the vehicle for six months. The manufacturer's network is actively failing to provide a timely safety remedy for a known powertrain defect, leaving a hazardous, malfunctioning vehicle on the road without a resolution or substitute transportation.
